I woke up at 4:30am in the middle of the night and had to send a text message to Helen:

I just had a funny dream and I wanted to tell you before I forget. We were playing White Elephant again and I thought something was weird. Then I thought, Maybe I'm dreaming? I got excited because I love finding out when I'm dreaming because it means I can control my dreams. I tried to get myself to fly - it's my favorite thing to do - but couldn't, so for a second I thought, Maybe it's not a dream after all? But it was all too weird so I did another test - I started punching ... your face! I woke up laughing. Haha!

Video Blog 6: Black Friday at Sanrio / Holiday Plans

Work has been so busy for me. I've been working the most random hours, going back into the office around midnight and staying until 4am so I can take a nap and get back to work by 9:30, or maybe not even going home at all and just working through the night and next day. My sleep schedule was pretty crazy before, but now it's just out of control.

Usually when we have a holiday I'll have some trip planned, but this time, for Thanksgiving, I just bummed around ... and it felt great! I've never done this before.

On Black Friday, I went to the outlets. Check out this funny video where we were trying to get a discount on a Hello Kitty luggage at Sanrio:

Plans for the next couple months:

Dec 5 - San Diego for a day. Flying in in the morning and flying out at night.
Dec 7 - Yelp holiday party
Dec 25 - Christmas
Dec 27 - Birthday
Dec 30 - Flying to Taiwan
Dec 31 - NYE in Taiwan
Go to Hong Kong or some other Asian country in the meantime
Jan 17 - Returning from Taiwan
Jan 24 - Utada Hikaru concert
Feb 15 - Khalil Fong concert

Somewhere in there I need to squeeze in:
Another trip to LA, New York, and Vancouver.

All work and no play makes me want to play even harder.

Jonas as Dr Robert Rey from Dr 90210

Happy Halloween everyone! Basically, on a Tuesday, I had my coworker take my measurements because I wanted to order a Halloween costume, which I never did order and I still don't have one. With my measurements, I came to a realization: my body/physique is way better than the average man. (Not trying to be cocky - it is what it is.)

I wondered to myself, What can I do with this body? At that time, I was also tired of hard work. I wanted to just get paid to do easy stuff. A light bulb turned on and I went on Craigslist > Gigs. I forgot what I searched, something along the lines of "fit model" or "Asian male", which yielded very few results, but there was that one result that was just calling out my name. It was looking for a fit model and the requirements were simple:

Asian

Mid-to-late 20s

40-inch chest

In the tone of Chandler Bing: Could that be any more me?

First off, you should know that a fit model is not like the models you are used to hearing about. A fitting model (sometimes fit model) is a person who is used by a fashion designer or clothing manufacturer to check the fit, drape and visual appearance of a design on a 'real' human being, effectively acting as a live mannequin ("Fit Model", Wikipedia). In short, fit models simply tries on clothes.

I emailed them that night, and the next morning, on Wednesday, I got a reply back from them, the modeling agency. We exchanged emails back and forth, and I ended up going into their office at noon to take my measurements and pictures. After that, they passed on my information to a very famous fashion-apparel company, and later that afternoon, the modeling agency called me back and told me that the company wanted to meet with me to take my measurements and pictures that Friday.

I went in Friday morning and they asked me undress to my underwear to take my measurements, so I did. Then, they took some quick snapshots of me (clothed). This information was taken to pass on to the designers to see if they want to use me.

It's been about a month now and I thought they went with someone else, but the modeling agency just called me earlier and told me that the company wants to use me this Thursday. Easy money, here I come!

My Astro Boy Shirt

Hi guys. Who goes in first?

"Well, I would." I answered.

"Why?" she asked.

"So I can push the door," I replied.

Then she read me the answers and about a quarter of all men actually answered the same way:

52.3% - Ladies first.
23.5% - The man goes first so he can push the door for the woman.
24.2% - Whoever gets there first. This is the 21st century!

I'm sorry but whatever guy or girl answers with ladies first - 50%! - thinking that it's the chivalrous thing to do is clearly not that bright; however, if you actually do let the women go first for other reasons such as so they can do the pushing because you don't want to touch the door - germs! - then that's okay in my book. I hate touching public objects too. I don't even like to lay my head on the headrest or my bare arms on the armrest of the seats at the movies. I guess what I'm saying is that yes, this is the 21st century. We're all allowed to be neat freaks.

NSFW - Looking at Underwear

My coworker came up to me yesterday afternoon for a work-related question. I had to open a website so I went to one of the tabs that I wasn't using. I loaded the site and everything was so tiny. I didn't know why. Then it hit me. "Oh yeah! It's because I was looking at underwear on Gilt this morning. I had to zoom out 'cause I can't be having a page full of half-naked men on my screen." She laughed and replied, "Oh Jonas, I love your honesty."

It's okay to tell someone at work that you were shopping online for underwear but it's not okay to be caught in the act. That's just embarrassing.

Dreaming About Midgets

I finished eating dinner and went to meet up with a friend. I parked and waited for her at the parking lot and was starting to fall asleep, but I tried to fight it, and you know what happens when you try to fight sleep, right? You start hallucinating and dreaming up all sorts of crazy stuff even though you're still awake, or at least I do. Well, I started to dream about midgets ...

... and then my friend called me to tell me that she had arrived, thus ruining a perfectly entertaining dream. It was probably only about a minute but that dream felt like it was at least five. I instantly completely forgot what the story was behind the midgets but I remember it being really good. Now I/we will never know. Sucks.

Restarting a Broken Habit

Long time no blog, huh? I guess after I realized that I haven't updated after a week, then two weeks, then three weeks ... It felt easier to just continue to not update. That's how life is.

After I got back from Taiwan in September, I kinda stopped going to my morning church. The first weekend was because I was tired, the second weekend was because I had friends in town ... and reasons kept popping up every Sunday. Now, it's been about two month since I've gone. (Note: I still attend an evening service that I've been going to all my life.)

It's like going to the gym. Everyone starts off on a good track and go regularly, then when they miss that one workout, it turns into one week, and then two weeks, and then they just end up paying for a membership they never use.

It's hard to restart a broken good habit and so much easier to just quit. If only there was an easy button. I won't give up though.

The Average Man

So I just get my measurements taken because I'm looking into Halloween costumes. Out of curiosity, I google around to see what the average measurements for a man is and end up on about.com. It says that the average height for a man is 5-feet 9.2-inches. Okay, I'm about average since I'm about 5-feet 10-inches. I scroll down and I see a link for the average weight for a man. It says 189.9 pounds. That's average?!? That's crazy! That's like, me plus 20 more pounds. I knew I was in better shape than the average man, but I didn't think the average man was that out of shape.
